A bacterial infection of the throat, or also known as a strep throat, causes pain in the throat, difficulty while swallowing, red spots on the soft or hard palate, red and swollen tonsils, and swollen lymph nodes in the neck. Moreover, these symptoms are often accompanied by a headache, fever, fatigue, stomachache, or vomiting.
The strep throat is caused by the bacteria called Streptococcus pyogenes. It is more often in children and it is highly contagious. Doctors usually prescribe antibiotics but there are some natural remedies that you can use to treat it. Garlic, apple cider vinegar and cayenne are only a few of the most effective natural options that will help you feel better by the end of the day.
Here are the natural remedies for strep throat:
Honey has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. The nutrients that it contains can kill bacteria and soothe the inflammation and pain.
Vitamin C has a potent antibacterial effect so increase your daily dosage of it. You can consume lemons since they are rich in Vitamin C or make yourself a cup of tea and squeeze lemon in it.
Just add a few drops of your favorite essential oil into boiling water and inhale the steam for 10 to 15 minutes. Repeat this a few times during the day. You can use grapefruit, lemon, lavender, thyme or cinnamon essential oil.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Just add 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to 8oz of warm water and gargle with it.
Just add one teaspoon of cayenne pepper to half a cup of olive/coconut oil apply this mix on your neck in order to treat the infection.
You can also relieve the pain in the throat by the old-fashioned gargling. It will coat the inflamed area with bacteria-fighting remedies and help you eat and drink easily.
Just mix 1 teaspoon of salt, cayenne pepper powder and clove powder. Take ¼ of this mix and add 2 tablespoons of warm water. Gargle with it but put some lip balm on your lips before you do because the cayenne pepper will burn them. Repeat this process on every 2 to 4 hours as needed.
The combination of these ingredients will fight the infection and inflammation, reduce the pain and numb the area.
When you are sick, the body needs more vitamins. Consume more Vitamin C to make the immune system stronger. You can also consume zinc when you are sick.
